Even though I was born in Rotterdam, I was raised in Goudswaard. In Goudswaard I went to the primary school, called De Gouwaert. After primary education I went to a high school in Oud-Beijerland, called RSG de Hoefsmid where I finished havo. I was still 16 years old when I started my study of Applied Physics at the Technische Hogeschool Rijswijk, nowadays The Hague University, location Delft. While still living in Goudswaard I had to travel a lot, so when I was 18 I moved on my own to The Hague.
During my study I took part in several committees, the most important being as Chairman of the Study Association Angstrom. When I started living on my own I had to change job and so I started working at Mediamarkt The Hague until I had my first internship for my study. This internship took place at DGMR. After that internship I kept working at DGMR during the summer, and also part-time afterwards.
In February 2010 I finished my final semester so it was time to write my thesis. I decided to write my thesis abroad and so I went to Sweden, to SP Technical Research Institute. Here I lived in a big student house called Balder, in the small city of Borås.
In June 2010 I finished my Applied Physics study, giving me the international title of Bachelor of Engineering (B Eng), or the Dutch Ingenieur (Ing.).
Currently I live in an apartment in The Hague again. The apartment is located in the tallest tower of The Hague, called ‘Het Strijkijzer’.
